How to install Minecraft Forge

Forge 1.16.5 & Older

Download the Minecraft Forge installer

1. Navigate to https://files.minecraftforge.net.
2. Select the Minecraft version you want to use.
3. Click on "Installer" button to download.
4. Open the installer you just downloaded.
5. Select "Install Server".
6. Change the install folder/directory to somewhere easy to access.
7. Press okay

Minecraft Forge is now ready to be installed!

Upload Minecraft Forge to your game server

1. Navigate to your PixelPond server and press install
2. Upload the libraries folder, forge-version.jar (forge-1.16.5-36.2.20.jar) and minecraft_server.version.jar (minecraft_server.1.16.5.jar) files to your server.

We recommend using Filezilla or CyberDuck to do this.

3. Go to your settings tab and change the following:
   1. Java version to Java 11 for Minecraft versions 1.13, 1.14, 1.15 and 1.16 or to Java 8 for any Minecraft Version 1.12 and older.
   2. Change Server jar name to the name of the forge jar you uploaded without .jar at the end. For example forge-1.16.5-36.2.20.jar would become forge-1.16.5-36.2.20
   3. Press save!
4. You're done! Press start!

Installing mods for Minecraft forge (all versions)

1. Install & Start your Minecraft Forge server once.
2. Upload and place mods in the mods folder.
3. Restart your server when ready.
